Why we don’t teach what the American Diabetes Association does

Part of the diabetes problem is the overconsumption of grains and carbohydrates leading to unneeded stress on the liver and inflammatory foods. When you look at the Diabetes food pyramid (below) it looks eerily similar to the FDA foodpPyramid, which causes the lifestyle diseases we see today, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, heart disease, lipid problems, cancer, dementia, etc.

If eating this way leads to disease, what do we do? How do we eat?

The Paleo diet is the easiest way to eat and the best way to start, but you need to have your ApoE tested by blood to see what and how you should be eating. There are a lot of myths around the Paleo diet. Many people think of it as the way that meatheads eat…tons of meat and nothing else. What the Paleo diet actually looks like is ancestral eating. Eating like our ancestors did. Lots of vegetables, wild game, herbs, fats, and fruit in season (see picture below).

Hippocrates said “Let food be thy medicine” and it is eating this way that will do it. Vegetables, herbs, and fruits have the nutrients that our bodies need in order to heal!
